Description
We are a high-momentum Munich-based AI startup pairing rapid frontend prototyping and product design with deliberate architecture and AI-assisted execution. As a senior full-stack engineer, you'll prototype intuitive user experiences in Storybook before building out robust full-stack features alongside the CTO and experienced peers.
Why this role matters
We are scaling our engineering team past 6+ developers and need an experienced, versatile full-stack builder who excels at frontend craft and rapid design prototyping. We design and iterate directly in Storybook before building, ensuring exceptional user experience before locking in our robust Java/Spring backend architecture. Your contributions will directly accelerate our product velocity and lift our frontend and design standards across the board.
What you'll own
End-to-end feature delivery, rapid UI prototyping, and full-stack development across our core platform.
• Rapidly prototype, iterate, and refine UI designs in Storybook before building production code.
• Design, build, and ship polished frontend experiences using React, TypeScript, and modern design systems.
• Build robust, scalable backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Collaborate closely with the CTO and senior developers on domain modeling (DDD/Arc42), testing (TDD/BDD), and heavy execution.
• Leverage AI-agent pairing workflows and modern CI/CD automation on Azure and Kubernetes to maximize development velocity.
• Coach and support junior engineers through active code reviews, pairing, and shared UI/craft standards.
Your first 90 days
• Month 1: Ramp up on our product domain, explore our Storybook setup, and deliver your first rapid UI prototypes and production-ready contributions.
• Month 2-3: Ship end-to-end features with polished UI design, tackle complex full-stack tasks alongside the CTO and senior peers, and introduce constructive design system or tooling improvements.
• By end of Q1: Operate as an autonomous senior contributor and trusted peer in the Munich office who collaborates closely with the team and shares new prototyping or frontend techniques.
Who you are
• ~7+ years of software engineering experience delivering robust, production-grade applications.
• Strong product and visual design sensibility with deep hands-on expertise in React, TypeScript, and Storybook.
• Solid backend proficiency building services with Java and Spring Boot.
• Dedicated practitioner of clean code, automated testing (TDD/BDD), and rapid prototyping.
• Comfortable collaborating closely as a peer and mentoring junior developers in a flat team.
• Based in Munich (or relocating) for regular in-office collaboration.
What you'll get
• High autonomy to shape product design, iterate rapidly in Storybook, and influence architecture.
• Direct collaboration and high trust alongside the CTO and senior peers in a flat setup.
• Modern AI-agent pairing workflows that supercharge individual delivery and eliminate busywork.
• A culture that values thoughtful upfront prototyping, clean design, and deliberate engineering.
• Energetic in-person team collaboration in the heart of Munich.
This probably isn't for you if...
• You prefer pure backend work and dislike hands-on UI design, prototyping in Storybook, or frontend craft.
• You are looking for a formal technical lead title or hierarchical management role rather than direct hands-on building.
• You prefer purely remote work and do not want regular face-to-face collaboration in Munich.
